How to Apply to Become a microGREENFX Partner Farm in SE Pennsylvania

Most farms want to scale by saying yes to everyone. We do not. Our partner-farm list is small on purpose. Here is what we look for in the application and how the conversation goes.

📍 Quick Answer

The microGREENFX partner-farm application is at microgreenfx.com/csa/apply/. We respond personally within 24 hours. The application starts with a fit conversation: your CSA scale, your member culture, your delivery logistics, and your operational capacity to handle a weekly add-on. We are intentionally selective. Pennypack Farm in Horsham is our flagship partner. We work with a small number of additional CSAs across SE Pennsylvania, and we say no to most applicants whose operational fit is not right.

We say no to most farms that ask about a partnership. Not because we cannot scale, but because we have intentionally chosen to keep the partner-farm list small enough that every partner gets consistent same-day-harvest freshness, proactive communication, and the operational reliability we promise. 📝

Here is what we look for in the application, what the fit conversation includes, and what happens after acceptance.

What We Look For in the Application 🔍

  • SE Pennsylvania location. Within reasonable driving distance from Schwenksville (we cover Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware, Bucks, Chester, and SE Berks counties). Outside this region, we cannot maintain same-day-harvest freshness.
  • Active CSA with committed members. Not a brand new CSA, not a struggling one. We are looking for partners with stable membership and clear member communication.
  • Member culture that values local sourcing. Our microgreens are a premium add-on that resonates most with members already prioritizing freshness and local provenance. CSAs whose member base is price-driven rather than quality-driven are usually not the right fit.
  • Operational capacity for weekly distribution. Pickup-day workflow that can absorb a per-member add-on without disrupting your existing flow.
  • Single weekly pickup location. Multi-location distribution multiplies our delivery cost. Single-pickup partners maintain the per-member economics that make the partnership sustainable for both sides.

What the Fit Conversation Includes 💬

  • Your CSA member count, season length, and pickup logistics.
  • Your existing add-on culture (eggs, fruit, dairy, etc.) and how the microgreen add-on would fit member-facing.
  • Your operational distribution time per pickup day and how the additional minutes for a microgreen add-on would feel.
  • The partnership economics specific to your scale and operational model.
  • Member-facing copy and signup page integration.
  • Communication cadence between our two farms during the season.
  • Any concerns or questions you have about the partnership.

What Happens After Acceptance ✅

  • Member-facing rollout. We help you craft signup-page copy, FAQ for your member newsletter, and any sample-week strategy.
  • First delivery. First scheduled delivery happens 1-3 weeks after acceptance, depending on your season start date.
  • Ongoing communication. Weekly count exchange (you tell us next week's opt-in count by Friday), occasional check-ins on member feedback, and seasonal adjustments to variety rotation.
  • Annual review. End-of-season conversation about renewal terms, partnership scale, and any changes for next year.

Why We Say No to Most Applicants 🚫

Most rejections are because of geography (outside SE Pennsylvania), scale (too small to make weekly delivery economically viable), or operational fit (CSA cannot absorb the pickup-day add-on without disrupting their existing flow).

A smaller number of rejections are about cultural fit. We work with farms that share our standard for same-day-harvest, peat-free, transparent sourcing. CSAs that compromise on those values for their main share are usually not aligned with our brand.

Saying no is part of how we keep the partner list small enough to deliver on the partnership promise to every active partner. We would rather decline a marginal fit than overcommit.

Frequently Asked Questions 🤔

How do I apply to become a microGREENFX partner farm?+
Apply at microgreenfx.com/csa/apply/. We respond personally within 24 hours and start with a fit conversation about your CSA scale, member culture, and operational capacity.
What region does microGREENFX partner across?+
Southeast Pennsylvania: Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware, Bucks, Chester, and SE Berks counties. Outside this region we cannot maintain same-day-harvest freshness, which is the foundation of the partnership.
How selective is microGREENFX about partner farms?+
Intentionally very. Pennypack Farm in Horsham is our flagship partner. We add a small number of additional CSAs across SE Pennsylvania each season but we say no to most applicants. Geography, scale, and operational fit are the most common reasons for declining.
Does the application cost anything?+
No. The application and fit conversation are free. There are no commitment fees, no minimum-volume guarantees, and no exclusivity requirements.
How long does the application process take?+
We respond within 24 hours of application submission. The fit conversation is typically a 30-45 minute call. After that we follow up with a partnership terms summary within 1-2 days. Total elapsed time from application to first delivery is typically 2-4 weeks.
Can I refer another CSA to microGREENFX?+
Yes. CSAs that learn about us from existing partners typically have higher acceptance rates because the cultural fit is already established. Have them apply at microgreenfx.com/csa/apply/ and reference your CSA in the application.
